Victorian occult lady.doll by *Bitterkawaii has created yet another exquisite Tool Shaded Doll without a base, with the wonderful romance of the Victorian era. The clothing design with the superb folds and textures, great light and shade to the fabric curves, the small, fine details in the accessories and delicate work on the hair, makes this a piece where more and more may be seen the longer it is studied.

Right. I have a lot to say about this.
Firstly- its actually baseless. Woop.
Secondly- where the ideas came from: I've been playing Arcanum on a friend's comp at uni, it's an amazing steampunk/fantasy rpg and I <3 it. This is partly inspired by that, its a victorian crossed with fantasy type thing. I drew the design during a lecture at uni, in all of this detail, and I wanted her to be a bit bigger, but I'm glad I did it smaller or I don't think she would've worked so well.
She's a sort of occult mage type thing, she's reading from her book and invoking demons. And she's evil.
However, her demons are a bit crap looking- this was the second version and I just kind of gave up lol.
Thirdly: I'm really happy with my shading here, its a relief to be able to do something I'm not constrained by having to make it constant with other dolls, or amazingly detailed for a contest or anything.
However, I do appear to only be able to do certain textures: silk/satin, velvet, leather, denim, fur/feathers, and that's it. Ah well, no matter. At least I can do those quite well. Am considering doing some sort of tutorial if I can be bothered/if I get enough demand. Which I assume I won't. Its just that I know for a fact that I'm pretty much the only tool shader who shades like I do, and I'd quite like to explain how that is.
